Good morning! Musicians often do a YouTube video called “rig rundown” which highlights their tools of the trade. I received a request for a JW writing rig rundown this morning. Please see below and attached picture for this entry…

JW Rig Rundown:

1 Graffiti picnic table

1 Coffee cup (small but real cup for regulars)

1 Cigarette case ($3.75 on Amazon)

1 Plastic water cup

1 Green and black backpack (Suburban camoflage)

1 Brand spanking new laptop

Today, I’m busy writing content for the site, and thinking about hourglasses, life and relationships (ah no, this is not a Dr. Phil post) and about Capoeira.

In the Capoeira Roda, there is a dance within the game and it’s called a Chamada. This is where one player calls to the other to start while playing O Jogo. As with all relationships, the start of this dance is uncertain (and at times risky) and can go right or wrong. However, this quickly changes when the dance starts into the main movements which last a short time and are relatively stable as the Capoeiristas move back and forth. The conclusion of the dance comes when the players break the hold by movements or attack, forcing evasion and spinning away to continue the game.

As any Capoeirista will tell you (and I am one) the Chamada is very much like relationships in life. And, firing up on my “series of three” philosophy, is another hourglass. The start is calling the dance with something in mind – new sand at the top of the glass and new ideas. The actual dance is life and it’s movements in action. The sands are in the middle, sometimes turbulent and in motion. The bottom of the hourglass is the end of the Chamada and involves spinning away to continue the game in a different form which concludes the relationship. And, the hourglass is then flipped to start it all over again the next time a practitioner plays in the circle.

Was just thinking about these things this morning and thought I would share… Hope everyone is having a great day!
