I was sitting at the coffee shop, minding my own business the other morning when something occurred to me. The Idea of Compasses. So, without further ado…
There are natural compasses all over the place. They are the midpoints of hourglasses – life, as it happens. These, could also be considered to be limbo of a kind. Heaven and Hell, beginnings and endings – they are the compass points of North, South, East and West. And, while I know a few physical hourglasses and compasses out in the world, there are also, I think, metaphorical and symbolic ones as well.
I have written about Heaven Lake before. It is a physical hourglass near where I live. Its also a filter, for North, South, East and West. This led me to think that it sounded a lot like the center of a physical compass. I say this because, a compass has water in it. And, as I was thinking about this subject more, water is the power that insulates a compass and allows it to work. And, power insulates us from a lot. So, terribly writing this, it seems that water is power. And, power also eats people. 🙂
This led me to think that human beings are 98% water…or close anyway. We have a LOT of power in us. We, seem to be compasses of a kind too. Based off the directions we choose in life, and the loves we have, and the families that follow – these shape the directions that many choose to take. Modeling ourselves after famous people, or good people, or whoever – we are following our compass to find them, and their compass to continue down the path we think we want to take.
So, as I write this, I’m thinking to myself, that maybe spieling off about power, and hourglasses, and circles and everything else led me to this idea. And, while THEY were the compass to get here, I’m wondering where the heck I should go with this now. So, I guess, I’ll just talk to some people out there as I backpack home, and see what happens…
I’m going to leave this here, because this is a big subject to cover. But, cognitive revery was off the chart the other day at the shop, and I was VERY excited to figure this out. So, more good stuff to come.
Short time but a good time today, thank you for taking the time to read! I hope everyone is having a great day out there, wherever you may be. As always, please feel free to leave a comment in the box below.
