So, I’m sitting here today thinking about the lexicon. Words come in and out of vogue in our society, they bounce around out in public and then years later start to fall away. This is the same with clothing and dressing styles, styles of cars and homes, and all kinds of things.

This is leading me to wonder if things are placed in this lexicon of ours, or if they naturally evolve to happen? And, for those who fall away, it seems like a hard night of drinking and our standard line back then that we were simply pruning weak brain cells. Its like, there’s a survival of the fittest going on with words, phrases, and the rest and that its been that way for a LONG time.

And, it seems that there is occasionally a resurgence. Words and other things come back into the lexicon from the past. An example of this, is Disney movies. It seems like every 20 to 25 years there is a re-release of these movies for the new generations to enjoy. So, I sit here wondering some things…. Mainly, is this a Yin and Yang of a kind? COULD the Chi, yes the stuff the Jedis use, be playing some role I do not yet understand? A shadowy Zen presence of some sort? Hm.

I led this blog off with some pretty heavy stuff, so in the spirit of balance, I’m pulling back the lever now. Does everybody in America remember the Off- Beat news story about Republican Survivor? This was a parody of the Survivor television show, and it used characters that were either loved or not. I mean, what more cathartic way to deal with stress, than to make up a fantasy island of a kind, and place all of these characters on it to see what they would do to each other? I quickly think of schools of fish that are supposed to get along. BUT….

And so, I sit here thinking about The Staff of Compassion that was used by a couple characters to club endangered baby seals, and existing on Mrs. Dash popcorn seasoning, Diet Pepsi and rage while it was all going on, and a bunch of other REALLY funny things that happened on it. Its hard to sit here and laugh as hard and noticeable as I am in the library, because I know some feelings got pretty hurt out of that series. But, it was pure genius to do that – to create a desert island to just stash people on and see what they did. I’m sure by this point, most people have either seen, or read books on how to deal with difficult personalities….

Have you ever thought about what you would take with you, if you were on a desert island? If this befell you? The television show Frasier had one of THE best lines about this years ago. The answer was a copy of the song I’m Your Venus, and a bottle of Ripple alcohol. That’s what they would take there. But it does make you wonder. I would have a copy of Pet Shop Wisdom, a handheld tape recorder to record the adventure, and also a conch to call gatherings. Shout out to Lord of the Flies. It does make you stop and think while talking about this at the coffee shop or the bar sometime….

Short time but a good time today – I’m going to leave this idea here for now. I hope everyone is having a great day out there wherever you may be in the world, and as always thank you for taking the time to read! I used to say that we were on a television season when I would write. I decided to take a break from that for personal reasons, but I think we are somewhere around 11. 🙂 Please feel free to leave a comment in the box below and take care!
