The Blind Man Society

Today, I’m thinking about watches.  And, as one friend put it to me gently, getting some class in my life.  This is not a how to, nor a tutorial, nor a product endorsement – since I’ll potentially get nailed legally for something if I do that.  That said, I personally own or owned the following three that were SO FUN, I decided to write a blog while I’m supposed to be revamping the website.

Three I’d like to cover from the cover photo above:

CT Scuderia – Testa Piatta.

This is my favorite watch of ALL TIME.  It’s an Italian Chronograph, and has all the bells and whistles that you would expect from a watch coming from that country.  There is an hour hand, a separate dial for the seconds, and a red second hand on the watch face that serves not as a second hand but a stopwatch.  Finally, the knob on the side is a screw on.  Loosening it counter-clockwise releases the lock on it, and then you can adjust the hour and date.  This watch can be found at:  ctscuderia.com. 

Movado Watches – Hugo Boss Chronograph.

This watch was my first in my entry into the world of (according to one friend) having a little more class at last.  It’s an American Chronograph.  The watch face says Hugo Boss and in addition to the 1-12 watch face, there is a dial for seconds and a dial for quarters of an hour.  The top button starts the second and quarter hour stopwatch, and the bottom button resets these.  This watch can be found at: movadocompanystore.com.

Mil-Tec Vintage Aviator Watch – The Pilots Watch.

Also a favorite and very reasonably priced, THIS watch glows in the dark.  I love pilots watches because instead of the regular 1-12 hour numbers, the face has an ascending five minute number count.  The hour and second hands, not to put too fine a point on it are just great looking and the face glass is actually a magnifier for the watch.  This particular watch can be found at:  amazon.com.

Now that I’ve covered these three, I’ll get to the timeless question of:  well, that’s fine.  They are expensive, we could use the money for rent or bills, or taking me your wife for a couple nice nights on the town.  WHAT exactly do they do.  WHAT is so fun about them.  All I can personally say, is that it’s a watch thing….you just wouldn’t understand. 😊
