Good morning! How is everyone doing out there? Very well I hope…back at the shop on this rainy cold day doing webwork, and taking a break from things.

To decompress, I’m thinking about “Neil” the electric eel that used to live at the pet store I worked at when I was MUCH younger. He used his electricity as radar and the minute I dropped feeder goldfish into the tank they started swimming erratically because he was just cranking them with voltage from his resting place behind the rocks. Never got a Neil when I had my fish tanks because he would have electrocuted our Siamese cat who loved to get into every enclosure we ever had for pets. Hm.

Following this electrical train of thought, I’m also thinking about electric catfish and espresso machines. Did you know, that in Italy a great espresso machine is just about as expensive as a car? And, a small electric catfish has enough voltage to make your hair stand up. Currently, I look like I had a run in with both this morning…

Since I just did an Africa blog re: Vic Falls, Zimbabwe earlier this morning, I’m now thinking about the following Africa memory: Recently, a friend’s son dressed up for 70s day at school, and he’s a dead ringer for Vic Colfari, aka Bobby the Rookie from the Beastie Boys video Sabotage. When we were in South Africa, some friends and I had a contest to see who could grow the worst 70s mustache and while it sounds infantile, it was F’ing hilarious. Especially when a carload of Afrikaaner girls pulled up next to the truck and we ran our fingers across the mustaches and smiled…

Recently, I decided that I would give readers a bit more of an insight into me with the coffee shop posts. In the future when they appear, you are welcome to read along and spend a little time with us here at the shop. Even if you cannot get to a coffee establishment, or don’t have the money to be spending on it, you are welcome to join me here for a small break from reality. And, EVERYONE is always welcome!

I’m going back to posting more along the lines of what I did back in October in the next couple blogs. I got over 100 all time views in three days on the site (a sincere thank you to everyone who visited and read, and spread the word) and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! I’m in the process of installing pay links (5 dollars a month) so I can fund the website and pay for it for the year. In the meantime, the subscription buttons could also be construed as a donation as well to keep this crazy train rolling. If you like what you have read so far, please click that button! Plenty more stories, observations, photos and ideas to come – I really enjoy looking at life positively, and a little differently. So, this is kind of like Season 1 of a television show. We are all getting to know each other, and getting more comfortable in our written “skin”. Can’t wait to see what happens from here!

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite Facebook posts of all time by my friend Lauren: it’s food for thought, especially when things are going temporarily South!

“About ready to move to a secluded farm in Idaho and make a whole host of imaginary friends out of googly eyes, cotton balls, and potatoes, friends whom I will occasionally cannibalize for sustenance.”

WORD.
