The song I Can’t Get Next To You, by the Temptations is one of my favorites. Nobody can do what these guys do in this song, I used to say to myself. Then one day, I decided… WELL. I can do a lot of things too. I think I checked three things off the list of things they and I can both do, including turning back the hands of time, flying like a bird in the sky and making anything from old to new. TADOW!
Feelings of competition aside, this song is just pure magic. And, speaking of magic, I’m thinking about my favorite kind of magic. Chaos magic. Chaos magic, is magic with no rules. Its practitioners have won about everything there ever was to win because it just doesn’t fit any mold. The only Achilles Heel that has ever been found for this type of magic, is emotion. And, I’ll leave this interpretive.
Capoeira, is the curveball that just about nobody is really ready for in terms of a martial art for movements, and what goes into the art itself. Not many martial arts are so potent that the only answer to a Capoeirista in a fight, is to just turn around and walk away. They cannot very well do cartwheels and flips after you! Wait – or can they…? I’ll leave this one interpretive too.
I punched in magic and fluidity and curveballs because I was stuck on this last paragraph, into google. Baseball came back, and it seems that the curveball is the magic pitch. My roommate and I used to play video baseball after bar time every night back in college, and it used to infuriate him that I would win using curveballs. But, then again – there are one HECK of a lot of curveballs metaphorically speaking, in this life. Can you think of a few? I can too!
Finally, I recently bought a balloon to use as a visual aid in a picture while texting. No sooner had I left the store than I lost control of the balloon while thinking about sucking the helium and doing the voice into the fan on high sounds, and it flew away. What is magic about this, you may ask? Well, can you imagine having a bad day, and suddenly a balloon touches down in front of you that says “You Are Wonderful”. Most, would take this as a kind of magic and potent sign?
And so, this blog topic is just a whole lot of magic per square inch. Well, to me anyway. So much so, that its becoming all too much for me while I sit here getting over caffeinated and looking at speeders and grandparent drivers pass by – while simultaneously thinking about peeking through keyholes in a door too!
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. I hope you have a wonderful day out there, wherever you may be, and as always, please feel free to leave a comment in the box below!
