Well, after two months of sporadic internet and computer usage, I got a new laptop today, and am back in the saddle.

I was sitting at a foreign shop today, setting this thing up when I started thinking about a couple subjects. First, I was thinking about the rings of a tree, telling the age of the tree, and how that carries over to our fingerprints. I was wondering to myself what kind of a story they tell?

The next subject, was… When was the last time, that somebody came up and randomly, out of nowhere said to you, that they were proud of you? Most people, seem to have their act together out there – or at least it looks that way to others. So much so, sometimes, that we don’t often pay compliments and give encouragement nearly as often as we should to others. They just don’t look like they need it! So, I wanted to say to some friends that read this blog, that I KNOW what you have done, I KNOW where you have been, I KNOW what time you got home last night…and I am very proud of you, for being the wonderful person you are.

Just knowing sometimes, that people are out there doing their thing, and making the world a better place for it, is enough. I learned that from the movie The Big Lebowski. I learned all about unchecked aggression, coffee cans, ins outs and what have yous, and that we ALL have a place that we fit right in, in this world. Even if we don’t end up knowing certain people, being friends with them, dating them, or anything of the kind. They are colors on the palette of life, and wonderful colors at that!

I’ll ask the question: When was the last time, that you were in a drive thru, and pulled up to the window to find that the car ahead of you, paid for your meal in a random act of kindness, or paying it forward. When was the last time, that you were down on your luck, and somebody came up with a 20 dollar bill, or food, or a bottle of water while you walked on a hot day. When was the last time, that you saw somebody emulating you, or using your favorite lines, or dressing like you, or doing the things that you do also. They say, that imitation is the highest form of flattery. And, maybe its not such a bad thing after all because it seems to let us know, that we are on the right track and sometimes without any verbal feedback, at all.

Has this ever happened to you? The crown jewel of my imitation compliments, came when I first started up this website. I used to walk with my berimbau to fend off ferile dogs in the early dark mornings, as I made my way to the old coffee shop before this one that I write at. People saw me every day, and at first, I think there were pointer fingers making circling motions around the ear. But, after a couple weeks, I noticed….many people started walking the same path, and same distance. Backpackers appeared where there were none before, and my favorite – a mom and her daughter came to the coffee shop – and the little girl had a walking stick just like mine, although cut to size for her.

I could not help but exclaim that it was the COOLEST thing I had ever seen, and I said that I loved her walking stick, and while I wanted to take a picture really badly, I don’t think they were in the mood. 🙂 Also, I just looked at the search results recently on Google regarding the Blind Man Society, and there was a group called the old man on the green society, and all kinds of societies that popped up after this one. And, I think it is the greatest thing ever. So, if you society members are reading this, and would like a positive opinion, I LOVE IT, the content is great!

I hope everyone has a great day out there today! It is gorgeous here, and I am on the tail end of a 14 mile walk with my 40 pound pack today. Local flaura and fauna on the walk included Mr. Sudz laundromat, evading a local speed trap that kept flashing 43 in a 40 while I was walking towards it, and so many blackbirds on the telephone wires that I felt like I was in the Hitchcock movie The Birds.

That said, have a good one, wherever you may be in the world, and please feel free to leave a comment in the box below. Also, a guest writer has given me the next blog for the site – and its on effective time management, and its a really great one. I’ll have that out by tomorrow….
