Trying an experiment today.  I’m over at the shop with a raging fever, and going farther and seeing more at this hour.  I was thinking….hm.  Maybe a blog in my altered state could be fun?

Thinking about hourglasses this morning and planes, trains and automobiles. I just heard that people who love flying and who do air travel are very intelligent people. People who mix it up with several methods of travel are the smartest, and the people who frequent the bars at these establishments…well…they are the unquestioned geniuses and basically rule the show.  Flip the hourglass over after these thoughts and hair of the dog kicks in – a wonderful way to start the day and a new chapter!

Yes, but you need substance for this blog, someone said.  So, let’s talk about I, Claudius by Robert Graves.  Claudius was the quiet one in the family, the fool the stammerer they called him.  And, nobody in the Caesar family paid him much attention while battles and politics were going on.  And, while they were busy doing each other wrong, he rose to become Emperor.  This is a GREAT book, and the follow up Claudius the God is a great one too.  I often have suggested that parents who have troublesome children, put their talents to use.  One day I suggested they should have them march on the Ocean like Caligula did.  And, if that didn’t work – the day of Taco Tuesday.  Have I mentioned that I Iove fevers?

I’m sitting here thinking about compasses and the first time I was told I needed one.  I was on an island, walking on the beach and decided to plunge into the forest for the walk back.  After an hour and a half in the wild I saw a clearing ahead.  And, emerged back on the beach about fifty feet from where I had entered 1.5 hours before.  I’ve only been backpacking and trekking and climbing around the world, but minor technical difficulties with this island walk.  Hm. There’s all kinds of parallels here to be found, I think.

Have a great day everyone, I’m just listening to Free For All by Ted Nugent. And, while the magic IS in my hands this afternoon on the keyboard, all power is fleeting. I’m reminding myself of this as writer’s block and my fever kick in yet again. 🙂
