Random thoughts…

So, I was sitting outside in the driveway this morning playing my flute at 4am while a family of bats was flying all around me.  The babies don’t know how to use their radar, and spend more time screwing around playing and crashing into things than hunting food.  I imagine that it drives their parents crazy.

I love the night.  They say, that people that want to remember things live in the day time.  People who want to forget things, live in the night.  Same for forests and deserts.  I like it, because I sit out back on the porch with the single light on overhead thinking my thoughts and writing with a cup of French Roast coffee from my 11 dollar WalMart coffee maker that hisses and spits at me and billows steam whenever I make coffee – this thing has some miles on it.  Like, Blues Man mileage.

I usually talk with people that are friends abroad, and we have our best conversations at this time of day.  After I am done, I head up in front of the house to the driveway to play my flute and watch the bat kids fly for an hour or so.  And, then I get cleaned up and walk three miles to the coffee shop to watch the sunrise and crank out my blogs for the day.

This native American flute is lifted up to the Great Spirit along the Gulf of Mexico.

I love lines on maps.  They are, contrary to popular opinion, actual places out there.  Usually border checkpoints between countries, and also state lines and the surrounding commerce and fast food places.  Nobody really knows this of course – most are too busy racing through to get where they are going.  But, magic is where you find it, and in my experience, some interesting things do happen in these places.  I came out of the wilderness one day at one such place, and the below is the first thing I saw…

Madison, United States – June 26, 2014: Verizon Wireless retail store. Verizon Wireless is a wholly owned subsidiary of Verizon Communications, Inc.

I met a leopard of a kind today.  Two feet instead of four. People, are never what they seem – in my opinion, only.  But, this leopard and I were talking about the benefits of the night.  I wrote a blog awhile back on playing the flute and one of the areas that I’m focusing on is animal styles.  I don’t want to divulge anything beyond this, except to say – that there are many, MANY interesting things to learn on this instrument!

So, now I’m at the shop – the sun has come up, and I’m sitting here while the staff curiously regards me sitting here laughing hysterically at what I’m writing, and swinging my arms all over the place because I am happy that this blog is actually making some kind of sense.  Hm.

On a final note, Blow Torch Lady was the one who wrote “I Am the Souls….”  And the numbers in analytics were through the roof.  She basically blew every writer and me right off the face of the planet with that one – thank you so much to all readers who took the time to check it out, and for your continued support and readership of the site! Somebody joked that this woman has her own subculture a long time ago – and I’m beginning to believe! The below is her doing what she does best at a local coffee shop….

I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC day out there – I am completing my six mile daily walk in a little bit t go home and work on chords, scales, flutters, split notes and all kinds of good stuff.  I have decided that its time to start recording my slide blues and flute music to see if there’s any interest out there.  Hopefully, there will be a bite or two for it.
