So, first and foremost, I wanted to write and apologize to the readers of this site for the several month disappearance! I got REALLY sick for about three and a half months and have been on the comeback trail for the last couple weeks. I feel like I was living in Wonderland and Murphy’s Law was in full effect. If it could go wrong while I had bad fevers and body pain, it did.
While I was not able to recognize basic shapes and patterns, my mind WAS in overdrive for story ideas. So, I’m sitting here, drinking my coffee and have taken the writing down for a little while – it was sitting upon a troubled brow this morning. ![]()
Like Conan, I have been walking the turn style, walking the path over the last couple years – pushing the weight, pushing the pen, getting stronger (cue the Rocky music please), but ultimately walking in circles a lot.
So, I’m concluding that this must be like a weightlifter plateau and when it comes time to launch forward, I’ll be ahead a couple squares on the gameboard. I just hope that the game board in question is not Hungry Hungry Hippo, or Mousetrap. Hm.
One of my favorite stops on this Merry-Go-Round was world famous Pet Shop Wisdom:
In the pet shop, there are creatures big and small. Predators and peaceful creatures alike. Bright they shine, and tend to their enclosures with great care and grace and fortitude. And, they eat their pellet food and rodents with stomach’s brimming with gratitude.
I never did introduce readers to Neil the Electric Eel, boldy and proudly shocking the living hell out of anything that came near him, but C’est la Vie.
Another stop on the Conan Merry go Round was “The Chi” (yes, the stuff the Jedis use) and the summation of my quest to know hourglasses and circles. Yes, the stuff the jedis use as I LOVE saying. The chi is contained in the hourglass. The hourglass is contained in the circle. And, if you want to get out of the circle, take your glasses off. Once you have done this, you can easily walk away. This is what I concluded this morning.
Finally, I’m sitting here realizing that I just have BAD hair today. I’m handling this realization reasonably well I think, but governing myself accordingly at the same time.
Somebody recently asked just what the hell the sponges are that I talk about migrating all the time. I think, they are kind of arbitrary. Like the word fahgettaboutit.. But, they were last seen on Bourbon Street, heading for the Voodoo store.
An hour later. here at the shop…
I’m working on another chapter for Heaven Lake and maybe a bit of X Files type Sh*t today (my new favorite future book title) over at the shop, and its a beautiful but HOT day out here!
I have recently come to the conclusion that there are some things in this world that will just never change. At least, not until we are living like the Jetsons on other planets. And, I find a quiet relief in this – whether its good or bad.
I’m sitting here this morning remembering that some of the best books in history have the dullest covers and pictures that are small.
X-files type Sh*t will have big pictures. This is what I know.
As you can tell, I am knocking the rust off my writing still. But, it should only be one or two more blogs, and there are plenty coming this month, and things should be back to normal.
