Just sat down with a friend at the table, and this is a “behind the scenes” blog. Kind of like backstage at the Muppet Show, or maybe The Enchanter coming out before Lolita.
Sitting at the shop (yes, I know – who cares :)) and brainstorming the next couple blogs that are coming on theblindmansociety.com with a friend tonight. Totally just messing around and really, this is kind of a random post with a reverse hook. He’s been sitting here listening to me talk for awhile, and I’m so tired that I’m imagining that he’s thinking the below as I spiel off ideas:

And, I’m sitting here, typing while conversing, thinking about Captain Stuebing and Abraham Simpson. Not to mention, Jiu Jitsu yet again. I’m not sure HOW I’m going to tie all this into a blog without getting in trouble re: copyright infringement…but what I’m imagining has potential.
My friend just went in for a refill, and I’m looking around at my surroundings. There are birds in the tree, just over the crib wall. Hello, Mr. Blackbird! What do you say there, Mr. Tree? How’s it going Mr. Leaf? Do you think I should do a Captain Stuebing blog tonight? Its just quiet and this is the look I just got shot by the blackbird:

37 minutes later: story ideas discussed and over-caffeinated now. Friend left. I love the return walks in the wind and the dark, alongside a mildly busy and somewhat lit road as I make my way back to the house. The stars and moon, the birds on the telephone wires and trees squawking when they should be asleep, and my all time favorite: seeing the bats. Around here, baby bats are coming out. And, it is so fun to watch them rolling and tumbling and learning how to use their radar. They seem to spend most of their time screwing around and playing instead of hunting for food. Some are still learning to fly around objects instead of crashing into them.

I wish I could have gotten a picture of the bats around here, but a European bat more than covers the spread. Tonight I think, was decompression at its finest after a rather stressful day, and while I won’t be blasting my way out of major hostile cities with this blog, this one seems to be a decent variable in an otherwise great equation. I’m not a math guy, but I’m keeping it as part of the written journey. I’ve never had people present conversing while I write these, and while it shows, I’m experimenting with different kinds of writing. I keep wishing that I could look up at the sky and see Orion and his belt. But, around here the dipper is ever-present instead.
I bought some 4 dollar journals and a couple pens after setting out to get a old-school typewriter. I wanted to take a break from the computer and work on my handwriting, as well as my typewriter typing. I have never thought as I speak, and I have never really written in the same “voice” that I speak out loud. I’m not sure what this means if you can, other than achieving synchronicity. But, I have different writing voices in handwriting, typing and computer typing. I guess it might be the same as different kinds of guitars and playing styles, and how you sound. Hm.

In closing, I’m getting ready to pack my things up and wanted to say thank you SO much to everyone that took the time to read the Flashlight blog I put out there – the numbers were through the roof! Also, I wanted to ask readers to please consider making a small donation to the site. You can either sign up for a subscription for 3 bucks a month, or as mentioned, make a donation – from 1$ and up.
Have a GREAT Sunday, everyone and be safe out there! Thank you so much for your time in reading these blogs. And, as always, please feel free to leave a comment in the box below. I’ll just be walking home shaking my fist at the clouds and having great gratitude, unlike Abe who appeared a bit angry. 🙂
