Over at the shop today, and sitting in the rising sunlight while it is colder than heck out here! I was feeling thoughtful today, and figured I would share my thoughts on the following:
Some days, I feel like I’m walking the path – which as I’ve written about before does not seem to be a physically set path at all. It seems to wind all over the place and adapt to me, and me to it as I move forward through things. The American Indians say that life is really a straight line with a wavelength line going over it. The straight line is where everything works right and all is well. The wavelength line is real life, sometimes working out and sometimes not.
Seeing that you are on or off the path, I think, is a matter of perspective. Please reference the above picture for those less successful at this. There’s a famous saying about perspective: use it, or lose it. With it, you can see and find your way back when, like everyone, life knocks you off of the path for awhile. Finding your way back doesn’t seem to take long either – good communication, which is the cardiovascular system of anything, will get you there.
Constants seem to be the key to finding your way back. I have written before about breadcrumbs of a kind to find your way home. For people at large, time capsules from when we were kids are good for this, I think. They are the modern day equivalent of Hansel and Grettel. As reminders of what used to be, and also, sometimes, that maybe it was better back then when for some, things made more sense than they do today. People, places, and my favorite – music, the ultimate tape recorder for time and experiences are great for this. However, being a “live in the now” kind of person, my opinion is that today is better than back then for so many reasons that I cannot articulate them in a blog post.
As someone famously said way back when, it hurts to make mistakes. But, when they are big enough, the pain only lasts a second. Please reference the above photo once more… Obviously for people looking to test just HOW FAR off the path they can go, there are limits. And, once again I’m suggesting that people remember the idea of undefined fun – which, is so much fun, that nobody has ever lived to talk about it.
This is a short one today, and probably a little condescending to some – I apologize if I have offended anyone speaking this way. As I am quickly approaching a percentage of fun, that COULD BE considered undefined I’m stopping this now.
The next blog posts, and there will be a few, are coming very soon. I hope everyone is having a great day out there, wherever you may be and thank you for reading! As always, please feel free to leave comments in the box below. Thanks!
