I was just reading something the other day, that I thought I would pass long to readers. And, its surrounding the subject of depression and is for those who suffer from it.
The studies that I looked at suggest that people with very high metabolisms and those who have high body temperature, aka, those who burn hot are far more likely to suffer from depression than those who do not. These findings, are leading me to think about all kinds of things that speed you up. Do you know, where this is going?
For those, who consume coffee at the rate I do, it maybe could be an issue. I don’t personally suffer from depression anymore, but when I was younger and living in the north, it was a big issue during winters. Smoking doesn’t help much either.
Blood thins faster than thickening. If you live down south, you wind up with thin blood and can handle the heat better. If you live up north, your blood will thicken and you won’t get cold as easily. Which, means your metabolism doesn’t have to speed up to handle the weather down south, and its not as big an issue for some.
Finally, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is known around the world. It comes on from not having enough sunlight over long periods of time and getting depression from this. Some people keep full spectrum lighting – artificial sunlight bulbs and lamps, to temper the effects of this problem…but for anybody who has ever suffered from it, it can be WICKED. The sunlight converts vitamin D in your system for mood and health. Taking supplements can help when you don’t get a lot of sunlight.
SO: metabolism plays a big part in depression. Stimulants like coffee and cigarettes do too. Sunlight and air temperature are big factors. As are vitamin levels. Thankfully, the older you get, the more your metabolism slows down – which, is why many older people and people who live down south with constant sunlight don’t have these problems as much.
Have a great day, everyone and thank you for reading! Hope this helps shed some sunlight on things for those who didn’t know…
