Awhile back, I wrote about Phylobates Terribilis – The Golden Tree Frog.  This is a poison arrow frog, and according to some writings, the most venomous vertebrate in the world.  The Choco Indians of South America would coat their blow darts with its poison, and once they did it was toxic and lethal for a year – dry – afterwards.  These frogs were mighty popular on the pet market for a long time, until people figured out that they lose their toxicity as their diet changes.  Its their food in the Amazon that makes them so poisonous.  When they switch to food found in the pet trade, usually in other countries, they lose their poison.

This leads me to think about the diet of humans on this planet.  But, regular food is kind of boring, so… I always joke about Twinkies having enough preservatives in them to make our bodies last until the year 3012.  Needless to say, I eat them a lot.  Cigarettes, tend to make me creative, and coffee calm and thoughtful.  Unfortunately, all of the above are detrimental in large quantities. What are some of your observations about the properties of consumable things and their effects on people?

And this, leads me to think of the idea of balance.  Too many illicit spiritual drugs, in states where they are legal, and people have trouble recognizing basic shapes and patterns.  Just enough, and they are calm and relaxed and friendly.  Not enough, reference the public at large.  The idea of Yin and Yang is more important than ever these days I think….

Along these rambling lines, I’m thinking about the best advice I ever got in life. Roll with the punches. I have concluded that you are going to get pounded on no matter what you do in this life, right or wrong. All you can really do, is roll with the punches. I have also concluded that the “Zen Masters” out there who come up with a lot of this stuff, have the luxury of NOT getting pounded on.

It’s a sunny morning, and windy out there.  I’m listening to music and thinking about some ideas today, and it’s kind of like what I like to call the salmon running. Everything we learn, goes into the lake. Fish, are the ideas. And, sometimes, when I’m having a writing rush, it’s very much like the salmon are running, and the thoughts are just everywhere.  I was working on short stories recently, but shelved them for various reasons. BUT, I just spoke with a publisher a couple days ago about turning my written ideas into a real book out there. I’m very excited!

This is a perfect day to do just about anything, so I think I may get to these stories this afternoon again.  I’ve got to take photos on my phone to support what I’m working on and I think I’m going to end it here and go do that. As a final thought, this site has passed 1000 all time views, and I wanted to thank everyone for continuing to visit, and comment, share their ideas, and be with me for this written website journey – wherever it may lead. You KNOW you miss the days when this website was in its first incarnation and looked like they were testing missles on it! 🙂

Hope everyone has a GREAT day out there and would love to hear your thoughts on the above as always!
