A slight dramatization…

This morning, the shop staff was working diligently to repair the door from the last time I burst through it, when I came this morning and kicked it right off the hinges.  The sky flashed, smoke billowed at the entrance, and I entered.  I chose a small table today, and took out my laptop from my backpack, fired it up and here we go…

I was thinking today about what happens when people that are too young, and too inexperienced get their hands on knowledge they aren’t supposed to have.  I’m sitting here wondering just what can happen – and how it happens.

The old saying goes that everything happens in it’s right time.  Things happen as fast or slow as they are suppo – oops squirrels just entered the shop through the busted door, hold on please.

Ok, fifteen minutes went by.  Blowtorch lady is chasing these things around, somebody just grabbed the fire extinguisher and there’s a group of women that just walked in wearing Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer antlers.

Anyway, I personally never wanted to wait to learn things.  I wanted to be the standout, the wise one and make waves out there.  I wanted to be a writer more than anything.  But, I found that I was better at the writer’s lifestyle than writing itself.  So, I guess that’s something that I’m coming to in it’s proper time.  And, since I still have a long way to go, its something fun to work towards.

In most cases, at least as best I can tell from my 50 years on this planet, its not a good thing when people get “the knowledge” too soon.  It seems like the progression follows a pattern.  First, it’s using this knowledge to serve yourself, then to get ahead and finally to be a big and unique success.  At least from a writer’s perspective, it seems like crazy lives are lived – filled with members of the opposite sex, children, travel and living in a way out here in the world that is done in part so that it can be translated to writing.  It’s almost like some people live this way so they can explore every wrong way of doing things and then write about it – to keep others from ever doing it.

And then, there’s the issue of time.  They say, that if you want to slow time down you should spend it with those you cannot stand, do things you cannot stand and be things you cannot stand.  If you want to freeze time, stand in front of an open refrigerator door at night and consider the contents.  Finally, if you want to speed it up, you always do what you love.

I wonder to myself a lot, just how long this time period is going to last.  Right now, I come to the shop almost every day and write my heart out.  There are the regulars here, and most of them are in school right now.  We all are using our time the best we know how.  I wish, sometimes, that there was a measuring stick for how we are supposed to feel inside when we reach a certain destination from verbally expressed words.  Whether we are in love, or enjoying things as much as we possibly can.  How does that feel?  Is it a high?  Is it a feeling of calmness and understanding?  And, is catching lightning in a bottle, like people do at various points in their lives something you can build a tolerance to?

I know this won’t last forever.  But for today anyway, I’m trying to brighten people up and share as many of the good vibes that I’m feeling as I possibly can.  I’m remembering all kinds of sayings:  Be kind to the stranger, for one day YOU may be the stranger.  Be positive to the negative, for one day YOU will be in the bad mood of your life.  And, if you are seeing only dark out there, then it is very possible that you are the light.

By this measure, today I am feeling very bright…
