Well, I’m sitting here at the office and the caffeine is just doing nothing today. This is another day where I think somebody spiked me with some sort of fish paralyzer.
Today is the day before my birthday. And, I’m thinking about Peyote, and the book Don Juan, a Yaqui Way of knowledge by Carlos Castaneda. In the book, Carlos goes to Don Juan to learn about being a shaman and is instructed that he must make a friend of peyote or he can never do it again. 72 peyote buds and many trips later, Carlos realizes that he is a friend. Today, I am attempting to make a friend of Budweiser. Confidence is high that it will only take me a six pack to determine whether it likes me or not. I am holding Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey in reserve, in case I am rejected. Basically, after this blog post, I’m going out and getting TANKED.
I’m also randomly thinking about one of my favorite SNL skits where one of the actors dresses up as Tanto and uses his unrivaled tracking skills to discover and follow fresh tracks on the carpet. (I tried something like this the other day, it led me to a refrigerator filled with beer that wasn’t mine.) I’m employing this technique for the local liquor store today.
Following this train of thought,
I always think back to the beer commercial where the whole city’s power goes out and the guy walks down this dark hall to a room that has a hamster on a wheel. In front of him, is a bottle of Budweiser. Empty. So, he replaces the beer with a new one, and the whole city lights up again as the hamster starts running on the wheel once more. The lesson here, if there’s one to be had, is DO NOT have an empty beer fridge. It’s really important! Man, so important.
So, now that we’ve talked about my birthday, illicit spiritual drugs and being a full fledged tracker, there’s one more thing to cover.
I’m going to take a break from posting through Thanksgiving. In the off time, I’m working to find a guest writer or two for the site and the people I identified (if they agree) you are REALLY going to like. I hope everyone enjoyed the post today, and that you have a fantastic week coming up!
